It's always more difficult to stay on track with your diet and exercise when traveling, but a couple weeks on vacation can be a big setback. With these few simple tips, you can enjoy yourself while staying fabulous!
1. Come Prepared!
Bring easy, portable food like protein bars and single-portion packs of trail mix to eat on the plane, instead of the simultaneously caloric and gross airport grub. Put some extra options in your luggage to snack on in your hotel room so you won't be tempted to grab those $10 M&Ms from the minibar and to tide yourself over in between meals when sightseeing.
2. Water, water everywhere
It's über important to stay hydrated, especially when traveling in hot places. Drinking water also helps with the bloating that you get from sampling exotic foods and can suppress your appetite between meals.
3. Find ways to stay active during your trip
It doesn't have to be anything major, and you definitely don't have to force yourself to go to the gym during your vacation but find some fun ways to get your exercise in. You can go walking or jogging on the beach, take a bicycle tour of the city, or try a water aerobics class at your resort.
4. Enjoy yourself!
Don't worry too much about the scale, and try to be in the moment. Even if you have a few days of eating nothing but cheesy focaccia (ermm.. not like I'm speaking from personal experience or anything...) remind yourself that it's okay to relax when you're on vacation and that you can only experience these things once. Do your best to be sensible, but not neurotic.
